This has been an extraordinary year. I'll get to that later. Right now I want to talk about getting off of the plane from Indiana, after seeing my middle child's, my son's college graduation, having brought the flu. With three dogs, a cat, two foster cattle/german shepherd mix nine-week-old puppies, eight chickens and two ducks, I cannot afford to completely succumb so I'm overloading on soup. Soup for breakfast, soup for lunch and soup for dinner. For breakfast, I had Korean ramen, my absolute favorite, purchased on sale for one dollar with two of my chicken's eggs, lunch was homemade tomato soup with homemade croutons made from stale french bread. Not the best I've ever made but I don't have the energy or all the ingredients and I'm trying to break the habit of running to the store every time I need something and to make do with what I have. Tomorrow I may add soymilk to it and make cream of tomato. I made the remaining Hibiscus leaves leftover from the summer into tea, always a favorite when I'm sick. If I'm feeling it I may make some chocolate chip cookies but it's not likely. Today marks the start of gathering all of my papers, Konmari style and rehabbing my finances along with starting an extreme tightening of the belt to compensate for purchasing a home and some major surprise expenses. Join me in the journey of a frugal, minimal, homesteading, self-sufficient lifestyle. In the coming months, I will be attempting to grow all of my food, learn to fish and learn how to DIY. One step at a time.
til next time.
